How many musicians do I need?
If you are looking into hiring a group of musicians who play string instruments, such as violin, viola and cello, I would recommend four to complete a string quartet. A string quartet is made up of two violinists, one violist and one cellist. A string quartet is generally considered to be the fullest and richest ensemble that will be most pleasing to the ear. On the other hand, a string trio, consisting of one violinist, one violist and one cellist, can also be arranged.
What will the musicians wear?
We come in all black attire, men in black suits and women in formal black, unless requested otherwise.
What kind of equipment do you require at the site?
Four armless chairs for a quartet or three armless chairs for a trio. We bring our own stands and instruments.
How long should the prelude music last?
Thirty minutes is sufficient to seat the guests who arrive early and long enough to accommodate any last minute needs of the wedding party.
Can you play outdoor weddings?
Yes we can as long as the instruments are going to be safe outside. Please provide a fully shaded area for musicians to play and there should be no precipitation.
Can the same musicians from the ceremony perform during the reception or dinner?
Yes. If there is a change of room, we are able to move easily and quickly.
How far ahead do you accept booking requests?
No request is ever too late or too early. Please check the
calendar page to see if we are available.
If I have a specific music request, can you play it?
Yes. We will accommodate your request even if we do not have it in our repertoire. An additional fee does apply for us to write an arrangement for the quartet.
Can you perform with a guest soloist?
Yes. We can rehearse with the soloist the day of the event at the venue. There is an additional charge for the rehearsal.
Should I meet you in person?
Unlike caterers, photographers or florists, it is not necessary to meet in person (therefore saving you time). All wedding details can be communicated via email or phone.
Do you need to come to the wedding rehearsal?
It is not necessary for us to attend the wedding rehearsal. We are able to look for a cue and stop the music accordingly.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. Once the contract has been signed, I request a deposit for half the total amount within two weeks. The deposit will not be cashed until we have performed at your wedding. The other half of the amount is due at the wedding. It is best for you to set aside a family member or a wedding party to handle the check at the wedding.
Do I need to tip the musicians?
Only if you were happy with our service. While we appreciate a good tip as an expression of gratitutde towards our performance, it is not required at all.
